Blind Mag Inspired Look on Jennie

My good friend, Jennie, went to ACEN this weekend and went as Blind Mag from Repo! the Genetic Opera.  Pictured below is what I came up with for her makeup.  I also used Monroe Misfit's tutorial as inspiration.

No tightlining because she has sensitive eyes (though I acknowledge that it would have been a nice touch).  I'm happy with the way it turned out. :)

Hope you like!

Products I've Used Up #1

Welcome to my first empties post!

I've watched in awe as many a YouTuber has pulled out empty product after product from a box or bag to talk about on a monthly basis.  I'll be surprised if I do this type of post every few months.  In fact, I'm surprised that I'm only on my 3rd post and I've already accumulated enough empty products to talk about.

Let's dive right in and talk about the empty bottles pictured above.

Mario Badescu Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 30 ($26)- Love me some o' this moisturizer with SPF 30, which is totally necessary to protect my porcelain complexion from the sun's damaging rays (especially because my beloved Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation comes sans SPF, and summer is finally headed our way!).  It comes out of the bottle white and disappears into the skin, giving it a dewy appearance.  Actually purchased another one of these today.

This shampoo leaves my brushes feeling silky soft and squeaky clean, which is why I will likely repurchase this in the future when I have some extra cash lying around.  Until then, I will be washing my brushes with Walmart-brand baby shampoo, which only ran me $3 at most (and it's HUGE).

Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel ($32)- If I had to retire the majority of my cleansers and only resign to having one, this would be it.  It lathers so well and removes all of my makeup at the end of the day.  It is somewhat drying (not a surprise because it's a lathering gel) but nothing that a good moisturizer (see moisturizer mentioned above)or night cream cannot fix.  This 7.2 oz bottle lasted me a good few years before it ran out (but I usually rotate 3-4 cleansers at a time). This has been repurchased.

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser ($8.99)- This is a little baby size that I received with my Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover. So glad I had the opportunity to try it. Nice and gentle, it is perfect for those occasions when my skin feels particularly sensitive (unfortunately, I am prone to allergies).  It foams a wee bit, but not much, which lends to its gentle claim.  I may purchase this when one of the cleansers in my current line-up becomes apart of my next empties post.

Bath and Body Works Winter Candy Apple Hand Cream ($7.50)- I can't decide if I prefer this sweet scent or Vanilla Bean Noel better, as far as BBW holiday traditions are concerned.  Got this after holiday as part of the semi-annual sale, and it was a pleasure to use up.  I don't normally used fragranced lotions (because I am sensitive), but being that my hands are tougher than the rest of me I decided to give this a go.  Lovely scent, and I will be repurchasing at holiday this year.

and last, but certainly not least:

Tarte Gifted Mascara ($20) - This lash-coater is HG worthy, but I hardly stay loyal to mascaras.  There are too many to choose from, and I want to give them all a try at some point.  This mascara definitely filled the 'your lashes but better' category for me as it volumized, separated and lengthened my lashes without looking spidery or clumpy.  Definitely recommend that you shell out $20 for this mascara.  It's worth it.

Still trying to decide what to gift my momma for Mother's Day.  What is everyone else doing?  My original idea fell through.  Give me some ideas!

Yesterday's MOTD!

Yesterday, the Ulta I work at hosted an Urban Decay event, so the majority of this look is made up of Urban Decay products. <3  I used a lot of colors from the Electric palette.

All products are by Urban Decay unless otherwise noted.

I used:
Primer Potion in Eden
Venus e/s
Revolt pressed pigment (inner corner)
Slowburn pressed pigment (lid)
Jilted pressed pigment (crease)
Urban pressed pigment (outer 'v')
Savage pressed pigment (blush)
Ink for Eyes eyeliner
Benefit They're Real mascara
Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette
Lorac Aquaprime
Naked Skin Foundation in 1.0
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW15
MAC Cremesheen Glass in On the Scene

Wish I would have gotten better pictures. :(  My one year old is sick and did not allow for it (you can see his hand creeping into the 2nd picture above).

Hope you enjoyed this look!

My First Post: A MAC Haul.

Visiting the Woodfield MAC store last night was like reuniting with a friend I haven't seen in what feels like forever.

I frequented this particular location in 2008 and had a nice stash of eyeshadows and lipglass to prove it.

As a born again makeup junkie I saw it fit to add to my MAC collection, and so I did.  Made the trip out with one of my besties (Beh aka the Queen of Eyeliner) and now, I present you with a haul.

I bought:

Fix+- I was torn between getting this and Urban Decay's All Nighter and decided to pick this one up.  I have seen this in many tutorials for the Naked 3 palette as a way to improve the application of 'Dust,' one of the flakiest shadows of the bunch.  Never have I ever owned my own setting spray, so I am excited to try this.

Studio Finish Concealer in NW20- I already use this concealer in NW15 under my eyes, so I know it is a good product.  Great coverage and love that it has a SPF of 35.

Lipstick in 'Lady Danger' - I recently read Essiebutton's post about this lipstick, and I decided I absolutely had to have it.  Normally gravitate towards blue-based reds, so this coral-red is different for me.  Nonetheless, I have it on right now and am a fan.

195 Concealer Brush- This, along with my NW15 concealer, will be perfect for cleaning up my brows after I fill them in. My old concealer brush is falling apart, so it is time for a new one.

217 Blending Brush- Everyone and their mother has this brush, so I'm excited to see what the hype is about.  Surprised it isn't already in my collection.

219 Pencil Brush- Planning to use this to define my crease and apply shadow to the lower lashline.  About time I own a pencil brush.

Hope you all enjoyed this haul!  If you don't already, please follow me on Instagram: @katyplayswithmakeup.
